St. Anselm of Canterbury Episcopal Church13091 Galway Street July 9th, 2005Dear Parish Family:Greetings to you in the name of our Lord. It gives me great pleasure to share with you some very interesting developments in the life of the parish. At the request of Bishop J. Jon Bruno, and with the acceptance of his proposal by the Vestry of the parish, we now have a new Associate Rector for the parish. She is the Rev. Minh Hanh Nguyen, current Interim Pastor of St. Olafs Lutheran Church.Pastor Minh Hanh will be starting with us part-time this month until the end of the year due to her current full-time commitment with St. Olafs Lutheran Church. Beginning next year, she will be with us full time and the diocese will fund her salary for the next three years. Her primary responsibilities for the remainder of the current year will be to shepherd the Vietnamese Church of the Redeemer (which will be dissolved by Bishop Bruno this year and will become part of St. Anselms). Although we will not see much of Pastor Minh Hanh this year, beginning in January, she will be present at all our liturgies as a preacher and celebrant, and fully involved in the life of the parish. With this letter I have included Pastor Minh Hahns Narrative Resume. She has a very interesting history and will be a wonderful minister and asset to the parish. She is bilingual, enthusiastic, has great organizational skills, a bridge builder, and is eager to get started. Her presence in our midst will further strengthen our ties with the Lutheran Church, with whom we are in full communion, this is very exciting. At some point in August, I would like to organize a welcome reception for Pastor Minh Hanh, this will be announced. Some of you already know her and have heard her preach, so you know we have something to look forward to. During my vacation of the next couple of weeks she will also be available in the event of a pastoral emergency. If that should happen she can be reached at: (714) 534-2329 (DAY) and (714) 998-7929 (EVENING). In closing, new developments are coming to St. Anselms, the Spirit of God is moving in our midst, and I believe it will lead us to new and exciting places. We are on the verge of becoming one of the most multi-cultural Episcopal parishes in the country, a true Pentecost church, a genuine sign of God Kingdom in our midst. May Gods peace be always with you. In Christ Jesus,Wilfredo Benitez+ The Rev. Wilfredo Benitez, RectorSee previous Logs |
